This is my vin number to my yamaha timberwolf atv JX44KDA04RA007153, CAN SOMEONE TELL ME THE YEAR PLEASE?

You Timberwolf is a 1994 model.

the 10th number of the vin tells you the year

Here's a table.

10th Character - Year of Manufacture

http://www.kerrywilson.com/vin.htmThis is my vin number to my yamaha timberwolf atv JX44KDA04RA007153, CAN SOMEONE TELL ME THE YEAR PLEASE?
its a 1994

10th character- Identifies the model year. For example: 1988(J), 1989(K), 1990(L), 1991(M), 1992(N), 1993(P), 1994(R), 1995(S), 1996(T),

1997(V), 1998(W), 1999(X), 2000(Y)------2001(1), 2002(2), 2003(3)

The turn around wasn't bad unlike other Yamaha dealers I have ordered from.

So my yamaha warrior atv quad has a piston in it, the guy told me its bored .50 over.. what does that mean?

Does that mean its not a 350 cc anymore? what cc would it be with this bored over?So my yamaha warrior atv quad has a piston in it, the guy told me its bored .50 over.. what does that mean?
the yamaha warrior has a bore and stroke of 83mm x 64.5mm. that means the the hole where you discovered the piston is, is 83mm in diameter. the stroke, or how far the piston travels from top dead center to bottom dead center ( total distance that it moves from top to bottom before it starts to come back up again ) is 64.5mm. using a formula for calculating displacement, it figures out to be 348.98cc or 349cc. If you have it all down correctly, the staing of .5 over would be in millimeters or .020" ( 20 thousanths of an inch ) overbore. that would mean that you now have a bore of 83.5mm calculating out to be a displacement of 353.2cc or 353. If he told you it was bored 50over, he may also be talking inches. .fifty thousandths of an inch convert to 1.27mm so the bore is now 84.27mm. you now have a displacement of 359.74cc or 360cc. Most cylinders, not all, have the capability to be taken to an overbore of .080" or 2mm. Now, did the guy tell you .5mm or 50 over. Little bit of a difference there. Boring isn't to make more power, it's for getting the most use out of your cylinder. Want more power? that's a different question. So my yamaha warrior atv quad has a piston in it, the guy told me its bored .50 over.. what does that mean?
it means that the mechanic bored your cylinder 0.50 (fifty thousandths of an inch) bigger than it was.

mechanics do this to take any scorn marks that have occurred in the engine, the mechanic also does what is refered to as "cross hatching" this is done so that the new piston rings will seat (allow oil to go in the cross hatches reducing heat in the engine, and it also allows the engine to have good compression as well).

with out doing a cross hatch in the cylinder it would cause your piston rings to wear out fast, lower compression ratio, and excessive engine heat which will cause cylinder scoring.

as far as gaining any CC you wouldn't be gaining hardly anything,be that 0.50 is equal to .5 mm you would have to convert the half millimeter to cc,and being that cc is bigger than mm it would be a fraction of a cc.

CHEERS!!!!!!!So my yamaha warrior atv quad has a piston in it, the guy told me its bored .50 over.. what does that mean?
If 4 cylinder, then 350 for real, as they tend to be 348cc as standard. but called 350.

If 2 cylinder. start at 248 and get bored to 249

(that's adding 0.5 to each pston - you can't ust do one or it blows up.)
It means the stock bore is now .050 of an inch bigger in diameter.

What is a Better ATV to choose for Sport use, Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, or Kawasaki?

I am deciding on a Sport ATV to buy but don't know which company to choose from, I am looking for the best performance and best accessories, your reply will be greatly appreciatedWhat is a Better ATV to choose for Sport use, Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, or Kawasaki?
Polaris Sportsman 4sureWhat is a Better ATV to choose for Sport use, Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, or Kawasaki?
Really for sport atvs they all are pretty much the same, i'm not a huge fan of the kawasaki but they have a solid engine. I have a honda 450r and I love it befor that I rode some yamahas. really you cna't go wrong with those 4 brands so just get something you'd think you'd enjoy. I'm not just throwing this crap out i've done lots of research before I buy any atvs and talk to lots of people, I like suzuki I believe they make a damn nice 4 stroke engine. All are fast and performance wise, skys the limit for bolt ons and upgrades. my 450 can now keep up with my buddies 660 raptor.

Have any ATV mechanics out there to answer why my 1987 yamaha warrior burns oil?

Valve stem worn, valve guide worn, valve stem seal, stuck oil ring on the piston.

If it smokes when you are slowing down it is you valves leaking oil past the guides.

Smokes all of the time it is your rings.

If you can do the over haul or got some one that can do it on the side That motor has replaceable valve guides you can get for $20 each.

If the cylinder wall is worn to bad That will run you $220.

    Piston ring set $30

It all come down to is it worth it to you to spend money on it or get some thing different.

The following web site is where I got the prices from. I don't know the availability of the parts.

Good luck.Have any ATV mechanics out there to answer why my 1987 yamaha warrior burns oil?

I HAVE A YAMAHA WOLVERINE ATV. IS THERE ANY OTHER OIL I CAN USE INSTEAD OF YAMALUBE?

THE ENGINE OIL GOES THROUGH THE CLUTCHES SO I NEED A OIL THAT WONT **** UP MY CLUTCHES. ANY IDEAS???I HAVE A YAMAHA WOLVERINE ATV. IS THERE ANY OTHER OIL I CAN USE INSTEAD OF YAMALUBE?
Any SJ-rated 10w40 automotive oil will work. Only the 5w30 and lighter oils have enough friction modifiers to make your clutch slip. Don't waste your money on "motorcycle" oil.I HAVE A YAMAHA WOLVERINE ATV. IS THERE ANY OTHER OIL I CAN USE INSTEAD OF YAMALUBE?
Here is a great site that describes what kind of oil to use in your engine. Basically you need an oil with an API Service category SG or JASO MA. Brand is less important than these service types.

http://www.thumperfaq.com/oil.htmI HAVE A YAMAHA WOLVERINE ATV. IS THERE ANY OTHER OIL I CAN USE INSTEAD OF YAMALUBE?
Valvoline makes a motorcycle oil that can be purchased at any auto part store for about half the price of Yamalube and meets the same requirements. Hope I have been helpful.

Need battery for Yamaha 250 ATV year 2000?

This is a list of battery manufactures along with the battery models that are suppose to be used with Yamaha 250cc year 2000:

    Power-Sonic - CB14A-A; Yuasa - YB14A-A1 _; Champion -14AA1; GS (JSB) - GM14AZ-4A; GS (ZYI) -CB14A-A ; Motocross - M224A1/ M324A1 ; Napa - 740-1826; Sears - 44056; Staab -14A-A1 (Staab %26amp; Champion the same); GNB - 14AA1 ; Interstate - YB14A-A1 (Yuasa %26amp; Interstate same); GX-Ztong-Yee - CB14A-A ; GX-JSB -GM14AZ-4A ; NAPA - 740-1826 ; Yacht - CB14A-A1 ; Honda - 31500-MXB-019.

With a list of battery manufactures and battery model #s for a Yamaha 250cc ATV yr 2000 looks like there shouldn't be any problem finding a battery. If I buy locally there is a $6 old battery trade in allowance. If I have the battery shipped I would have to buy acid locally to pour into the new battery.

Please tell me the best option.

Thanks!!Need battery for Yamaha 250 ATV year 2000?
Yuasa is the standard for Japanese manufacturers - because they're the best.

The other junk you have listed, won't last half as long.

Sears Die Hard batteries are one of the worst brands.

Buy the battery at your local motorcycle dealer.

They'll fill it with acid, charge it and give you a guarantee.

No department store, or mail order will do that.Need battery for Yamaha 250 ATV year 2000?
Go to Wal*mart. They have a little machine where you can enter your vehicle info and it directs you to the correct battery. I brought my old battery and got like $7.50 back. So it turned out to be $40 minus the $7.50. I took it to Autozone and let them fill it and charge it for free. Advanced Auto Parts does it for free as well.

  • Is the 2008 Yamaha grizzly 400 4x4 a good atv?

I want to buy it but is it good, reliable, does it break down, is it fast.Is the 2008 Yamaha grizzly 400 4x4 a good atv?
Great vehicle. This unit would best match up to the Honda Rancher and Polaris Sportsman 400.

    Honda Rancher...

4x4 model is only available in electronic shift or semi-automatic. Either way, you have to shift it.

    Polaris Sportsman...

Fully automatic and less expensive. Known for chronic belt problems.

Yamaha has a superb name when it comes to toughness, durability, and reliability. With any 4x4 unit an extended warranty is always suggested.

yes, its the best you can get

    just don't buy a Polaris

Polaris is soooo junk even the Polaris Dealers refuse to work on them

the reason nobody wants to repair them is because its a losing proposition to repair them cause they break down over and over again and that makes the dealer and the mechanic look bad.

don't believe me? huh? call up any dealer and tell him you have a Polaris ATV and you need a price to fix it, and I bet they will make some excuse or tell you to take it somewhere else.

I mean how pathetic is that?

Polaris dealers don't want to repair their own brand? Is the 2008 Yamaha grizzly 400 4x4 a good atv?
All of the Yamaha 4x4s are good.

Their sport quads require a lot of engine maintenance.

The Grizzly is not made for speed.

What ATV would you buy between the Suzuki King Quad 750 or the Yamaha Grizzly 700?

I've narrowed my choice to these two ATV's and need some help! What ATV would you buy between the Suzuki King Quad 750 or the Yamaha Grizzly 700?

    neither......don't need training wheels....sorry, i couldn't help myself.

4X4 means 4 times more money to repair. What ATV would you buy between the Suzuki King Quad 750 or the Yamaha Grizzly 700?
grizzly is better, more power, better ground clearance, made tougher, repairs and parts are less expensive.

the only advantage the King Quad has is better gas mileage, but the Suzuki is plagued with electric problems
yamaha is a good machine and will do what you need it to do.

Yamaha sport atv, yamaha dirt bike, or kawasaki dirt bike for a 14 year old?

the blaster is a good 200cc quad to have.
Yamaha dirt bike! Well, it really depends on where you live...But atv's are really fun!
The thing about dirt bikes is..you can go more places..You get in a tight spot with only a foot between a big log....The ATV will have to turn around or find away around...You can load it easy into a small truck....You only have to buy 2 tires..

I could go on and on......

    ATVs are fun...but!!!
I am not really a fan of quads as I hate to think of the damage they can do when they land on top of the rider. As rough neck has stated you can do so much more on a bike.
i like dirt bikes better so i would have to say the kawasaki. but four wheelers are fun to i have the 08 raptor 700, it is a blast and is fast as hell

    Yamaha Banshee ATV Jetting?

I have a 04 Yamaha Banshee 350 twin 2 stroke ATV. Starts 2-3 kicks and runs good slow and meduim speeds but when the powerband hits it seems like the throttle sticks or the power won't stop unless you turn the kill switch on. It only does it when it is cold-meduim warmed up and once it gets hot it stops and runs fine. Is it jetted wrong? Is the jetting too lean? I bought it this way and it has Toomey T-6s pipes and clamp-on K%26amp;Ns. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you!Yamaha Banshee ATV Jetting?
So is it good from 1st thru 3rd shift but then bogs in 4th-6th??

If that the case then its one of three things

    1. If it bogs and your spark plug is black and/or wet, use a leaner (smaller) main jet.

2.If performance is very crisp but the motor is popping and the plug is white, go richer (bigger)

BTW: Your plug should be a very light, dry tan color.

    3. make sure the choke tube is connected (stock carbs only)

    good luck!!

How much oil is needed for an oil change on a 1997 Yamaha big Bear 400 2wd Atv?

    about 2 quarts.

i would suggest start measuring the amount of oil after you have put a quart1/2 of oil in it,adding just a little at a time after giving the oil enough time (about 1 min or 2) run down in to the crank case.when you have reached the full mark run the engine for 5 minutes to get the new oil circulated through the new oil filter, and through out the engine, after 5 minutes shut it down.wait for 5 minutes to let oil settle re-check the oil,and add if needed.

    best of luck

    Yamaha atv question. ?

Okay well I have a 1986 yamaha moto 4 250cc. It runs great but it will not idle long at all. It will idle for about 5 seconds and then it will go dead. I have tried to find out how to make it idle on the Internet but I can't. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. And please be detailed with your answers.Yamaha atv question. ?
sounds like you got something obstructing the idle circuit of carb. remove carb, dissassemble %26amp; clean idle circuit with a very fine piece of wire ( twisttie) or 1 strand of copper fron a piece of auto wire. on the airfilter end of the carb there will be 2 ports before venturi ,1 is larger %26amp; goes to choke circuit, the other is smaller %26amp; bleeds air to idle mixture screw %26amp; upper portion of main jet. be careful not to damage port with a wire that is too thick. I have had this proplem before. it only takes a very small grain of sand or dirt to block the idle mixture port. after reassembly set idle mixture screw at 1.5 turns open, start engine %26amp; fine adjust for smoothest idle that doesn't bog when throttle is opened. check your air filter to ensure it is clean %26amp; sealing correctly to airbox

I thought of buying a yamaha raptor atv,but the guy at the store said i can only ride it offroad, why is that?

i didnt get a chance to ask him.

are atvs not street legal or something.?

dont they give licences or permit or whatever for atvs.?I thought of buying a yamaha raptor atv,but the guy at the store said i can only ride it offroad, why is that?
ATVs cannot be plated in most states. I have seen them in Rapid City rush hour traffic however, with South Dakota plates. In Mexico, you see them all over in small towns, sometimes ridden by girls in school uniforms with 2 or 3 passengers.
The U.S. has some funny laws. Since it has 4 wheels instead of 2 or 3 it is considered a car. In order to make it road legal now it would have to be equiped with air bags and meet safety standards. Consequently, motorcycles and trikes have to be open air. If they are completly enclosed then they would be considered a car as well.I thought of buying a yamaha raptor atv,but the guy at the store said i can only ride it offroad, why is that?
just because ya need a license to operate it, dont mean its a street legal vehicle. if ya need a dual purpose vehicle, look around.
Some states will, but there's street legal options that need to be added like turn signals horn and such, I know Utah and I think Montana does.I thought of buying a yamaha raptor atv,but the guy at the store said i can only ride it offroad, why is that?
    That is the state law.

I cant make up my mind on whether i should get a raptor 350 or a banshee. So what is a better atv? What is a better ATV? Yamaha raptor 350 or Yamaha banshee
What type of terrain are you riding on? Also are you an experienced rider or are you a first timer? If you're new to riding go Raptor. Also If you think that these bikes are similar because they have the same displacement your wrong. The Banshee is an awesome bike that has hauled a** ever since it was released back in '86 while the Raptor is more of a beginners bike. If you've ridden before go with the Banshe. Also if you're planning on riding dunes go with the Banshee. But bottom line, Experience=Banshee and Beginner=Raptor 350.

If you want my two cents. If you are after a good deal on a utility atv with a hunting package. Go with the kawasaki prarie 700. You can get it for just about the same price as you are talking about. It has crazy power and it is totally automatic. Great atv. My parents have 2 of them they use for mudding. I personally like my yamaha tri-z 250 3 wheeler, but I have always been into sand dune riding. All atvs are fun though. Enjoy when you get one.

    What's a faster atv, a suzuki 400 or a Yamaha yfz450?

My friend has both a 2003 yfz450 and a 2004 Suzuki 400, although the 400 has a 440 kit in it. To make a long story short he can't tell which one is faster. So basically which one should be faster? What's a faster atv, a suzuki 400 or a Yamaha yfz450?
power to weight ratio ... drag them and findout ( try to have equal weight riders ) the yamaha should be fasterWhat's a faster atv, a suzuki 400 or a Yamaha yfz450?
im not a Genius on atvs but overall the Yamaha has 10cc higher power but the power to rate ratio would mean that the suzuki 400 would be fasterWhat's a faster atv, a suzuki 400 or a Yamaha yfz450?
    Neither is considered "Fast".

Best Big Utility ATV, Yamaha Grizzly, Suzuki King Quad, or Kawasaki Brute Force?

The Yamaha Grizzly is 700cc, and the Suzuki and Kawasaki is 750cc

What one is the best and why?

I was reading the reviews and the only one that got bad reviews was the Kawasaki Brute Force with engine oil leaks, engine knocks and high oil consumption problems, is this true or are these manufactured lies made up by Kawasaki Haters?Best Big Utility ATV, Yamaha Grizzly, Suzuki King Quad, or Kawasaki Brute Force?
Kawasaki is a tough quad, but the dealers ive dealt with dont stand behind what they sell. I would go with the grizzly, that is one tough four wheeler!!Best Big Utility ATV, Yamaha Grizzly, Suzuki King Quad, or Kawasaki Brute Force?
I would choose the Yamaha Grizzly.

Yamaha work quads are tried and true, strong build and quality (I wouldn't say that about their race quads).

Kawasaki quads have been having problems ever since the Prairie models came out.

    Yamaha Warrior??? ATV?

I am thinking of purchasing a 98 yamaha warrior 350 atv. can anyone give me some reviews and opinions of this quad?Yamaha Warrior??? ATV?
hey, warrior's are amazing quads. I've got a 92 and i've never had a single problem.

they perform the best on the trails, but they're quite capable of racing to! their engine layout is really simple, so their easy to fix. by all means, go for it, though the only thing about warrior's is that in time they develope a "tick" in the top end. It's nothing to worry about, it can simply be fixed by tightening the timing chain.

  • I am looking for ATV crate engines. I am rebuilding an 88 yamaha warrior and would like to get a new engine.?

The engine that is in it has been rebuilt before and I am doing a frame off resto so I would like to put a new engine in it. I have found many engines on ebay but the are also used. I would consider going with a larger cc if it was out of a Yamaha.I am looking for ATV crate engines. I am rebuilding an 88 yamaha warrior and would like to get a new engine.?
they dont make/sell whole engines for these or any japanese bikes/quads. you can buy all the parts new, cases, piston, head, cylinder cam etc. but you or a mechanic will have to put it together. rebuild the old on and get the new exterior parts, covers cases etc. and it will look new.

Hi there, i bought an ATV yamaha warrior 350cc but i don't know thee year.. the only thing missing is the engine well sort of... I have the engine but in piecies every piece is separated from the complete engine.. I have all the pieces, so can you help me?! I don't really have money for garage.. i want to maybe check videos or the steps for rebuilding it.... PLease give me advices..!

    Patrick Ch.(ATV)-Yamaha Warrior 350cc Engine in pecies..(DESCRIPTION)!.?
You should be able to buy a service manual and it will tell you exactly how it all goes together with pictures and schematics. Make sure you use all new gaskets and seals. Why was it all apart? This throws up a red flag to me. Anyways a manual may be upwards of $100 but it's cheaper than the labor to have a shop do it, plus you'll gain a lot of knowledge of how the engine works if you do it yourself. You'll need a large, clean work bench to do it but it isn't that difficult. Take your time and relax, and enjoy doing it.

Could I find a used/older model ATV at a Yamaha dealership?

The new ones are a little bit out of my price range so I was wondering if I could go there and get a used older model, or a new older model.Could I find a used/older model ATV at a Yamaha dealership?
Yes, dealers will usually carry used bikes and many have non-current year new bikes also.

2001 yamaha warrior 350 atv wont stay running?

I have a 2001 yamaha warrior it will start but then backfires and stalls . i have put on a new stator pulsar coil ,cdi box, cam chain, valves, carb is clean and has no issues the time lite says its firing when it should what is causing my atv to not run pleaaase help with any ideas also all woodruff keys are good and not broke2001 yamaha warrior 350 atv wont stay running?
More info would be helpful - how long will it run, does if stall after reving the engine, stall after taking off choke , explicit details.

    Check the parking brake switch.

When the parking brake is applied, it activates a rev limiter to prevent burning up the brakes %26amp; clutch when trying to ride with the parking brake on.

If the switch was not working properly, the rev limiter would be on always, causing the engine to misfire constantly.

The parking brake switch is at the left handlebar lever.2001 yamaha warrior 350 atv wont stay running?
Try a really good spark plug alot of times they are burnt or have alot of gas on them my cr 125 did the same thing checked everything and ended up being a foul plug got a new one and kicked right over and idled great! Hope this helped.

Does anyone know whats wrong when a 2001 yamaha warrior ATV 4-wheeler that won't start.?

I press the start button and all it does is click like the battery is dead but the battery is not dead i have charged it, i can also pull start it with another 4-wheeler. so if you have any ideas please let me know thanksDoes anyone know whats wrong when a 2001 yamaha warrior ATV 4-wheeler that won't start.?
The first answer is correct, however, you say that it will run if you pull start it so you do not need any of that info. The clicking sound you hear is no doubt the starter solenoid which is USUALLY a sign of a weak battery. Just because you charged the battery doesn't mean that it is good. If you don't want to buy another battery, borrow one, or use jumper cables from your car (hook them up correctly and don't start the car). If it starts the battery is your problem, if it still will not turn over, then, it may be your solenoid or the starter motor itself. For further testing, run a jumper cable from +battery right to the large wire connection on the starter motor (assuming good battery and good ground) if it cranks the engine starter motor is good, if it doesn't crank its bad. Hope this info helps.Does anyone know whats wrong when a 2001 yamaha warrior ATV 4-wheeler that won't start.?
you need four things for a motor to start - gas, air, spark, and timing. im sure the timing in the motor is fine, so that leaves air, gas and spark. also, air is almost always getting to the engine so ignore checking that. spark - remove the spark plug and place it back in the spark plug wire. ground the threads of the plug on the block and crank the motor. if you see a spark (its usually very faint) or you get shocked, the spark is fine. as for fuel, i cant think of an easy way to check other than removing the spark plug and turning on the gas valve and cranking the motor. fuel should spray out of the spark plug hole a little when you crank it over.Does anyone know whats wrong when a 2001 yamaha warrior ATV 4-wheeler that won't start.?
    check battery connections.

ATV How fast does a yamaha blaster go?

Whats the top speed of a 2000 stock yamaha blaster

also how much faster would it go if it had a pipe and silences, reeds, and a jetkitATV How fast does a yamaha blaster go?
stock about 45 mph which is slow but good speed for a 200cc engine. All those upgrades giving good conditions you're looking at probably another 10-15 mph which is great. I rode a upgrade blaster and that thing really whips around good I would buy one but i'm just to tall to sit on it all day. The guy I knew had one with the pipe and jet upgrades and it kept up with but not as fast as my honda 450r which was stock at the time, his was a 98 pretty much the same as a 2000. There are more upgrades you can do...upgrade the cam, pollish the head, change the air filter to K%26amp;N, and you're looking at a very fast fun machine.ATV How fast does a yamaha blaster go?

Help please....Ideas on getting a CDI box for an ATV 1988 Yamaha YFM 350 ERU Moto-4 that isn't $500 from Yamaha..?
    Heres what I recommend:

1)check local phone book for "motorcycle salvage yard"

2)go to it and take the bad module with you.

Chances are it can be matched up with something there. Or at least call them on the phone and ask.

If they don't have it, then do a web search for motorcycle salvage yards and enter exactly what you have. In the comments sections, make sure to put something like "please no stock "we have your part" answers as I want the price as well as availability". Seems some salvage yards use a generic email answer that is pure b.s. They may not have the part, but indicate they do. They also don't list the cost. So be honest up front with the salvage yards and they will be honest with you. The only problem is that you must be certain that the unit is good before installing it. I always test used parts before installing them, and inform the salvage yards that I will be testing the part before it is installed, and if it fails any of the tests it will be exchanged. Give no nonsense and take none. Perhaps I can get away with it because I operate a repair shop, but if you treat buisness people with respect it shows you mean buisness.

Is there anyone that has had a problem with the Yamaha ATV Rhino concerning Roll Overs?

I have an 04 Rhino with 26 inch tall 589 Mud tires and Black Rhino Performance CDI. Even with the taller tires I have not (yet) rolled it over. I take it on daily trips which entails VERY steep hillclimbs. As long as you adhere to common sense ATV rules (like only go straight up or straight down a hill) you will have no problems. With the BRP CDI my top speed is around 50 mph. I also highly recommend slowing down before making any sharp turns with this modification. I do know of someone from my area that let their inexperienced daughter ride one. She went up a hill at a side angle and rolled it. Her Left leg got flung outside the roll cage and it broke her leg.Is there anyone that has had a problem with the Yamaha ATV Rhino concerning Roll Overs?
Yamaha rhinos are very stable from the factory and can be highly modified, however if you add performance parts to it i highly recommend wider a-arms and lowering the body to reduce the risk of a rollover, and like someone else said, go straight up or straight down a hill.

My friend bought a 2001 Yamaha Blaster ATV Quad. It didn't come with a manual. Do I have to mix the oil & gas

My friend bought a 2001 Yamaha Blaster ATV Quad. It didn't come with a manual. It's a 2 stroke. Do I have to mix the oil %26amp; gas or does it do it automatically? My friend bought a 2001 Yamaha Blaster ATV Quad. It didn't come with a manual. Do I have to mix the oil %26amp; gas
There should be a tank at the back of the quad. Under the left rear fender. You feel that with oil and then feel the tank with normal gasoline and it mixes itself. It's called oil injection. If it is not there you need to mix the gas. I believe it's 32/1. To be sure go down to your local motorcycle shop and ask them.

Yamaha Big Bear 4x4 is better cause its gear drive, not a cheap fan belt that drives a sheet metal clutch
If it was me go for the Grizzly, they are a lot better, my cousin has one, and won't give it up for the world. 1995 yamaha warrior atv wont shift threw the gears when warm?

i got a 95 warrior atv and when the motor is cool it shifts and drives perfect but when it warms up it dont want to shift i still have gears but onl 2nd and 3rd theres enough oil in it and everything and the clutch is like new someone help please?1995 yamaha warrior atv wont shift threw the gears when warm?
Looks like its a warm up problem, just check all the worm gears, any one of them has a crack, which helps in shifting , because it expands after the engine is running for some time.Your clutch is fine. Another possibility could be your gear rods freeplay. Check whether freeplay increases when it heats up.

  • Having trouble with my 2002 Yamaha Grizzly ATV. Runs great the first few minutes and then it runs rough or die

my 2002 Yamaha Grizzly ATV. Runs great the first few minutes and then it runs rough or dies. It has done this since it got stuck in a snow drift last winter. It acts like it doesn't get enough fuel. Anything I can check?Having trouble with my 2002 Yamaha Grizzly ATV. Runs great the first few minutes and then it runs rough or die
    Is the choke stuck?
Check any fuel filter, choke and your air filter, might be dirty or clogged, also check the spark plug, might be fouled.Having trouble with my 2002 Yamaha Grizzly ATV. Runs great the first few minutes and then it runs rough or die
Could be summer blend of gasoline.
Fuel Filter. Or sounds to me like you still have water in the carb..that can last for over a year or so...that would be my best guessHaving trouble with my 2002 Yamaha Grizzly ATV. Runs great the first few minutes and then it runs rough or die
Check for rust and water in your carburetor.

    George
Start with the basics, if you haven't done it yet, change the oil, clean the filter, install a new spark plug.

Then see how it runs, if it's still doing the same thing, then as soon as it starts to run bad, stop and pull the spark plug. Does it smell like fuel? No fuel smell? Make sure the petcock and float bowl needle are clean and allowing fuel though.

If the plug smells like fuel, then put the cap back on the plug and ground it to the engine. Crank it over and check for spark. You should see a decently bright blue spark. If there's no spark, or it's weak, it may be an electrical problem.

Usually a bike that runs okay when it's cold, then runs like crud after it warms up has a bad CDI - but you can't really test them, and it's not cheap to replace, so start simple then work to the electrical problems.

If you've got another Grizzly (a friends bike, etc.), you can try trading out the CDI from his bike and see if the problem goes away. It won't hurt his CDI.

Is a yamaha Banshee the same as a other Atv?

I just wanted to know is a banshee the same as a other Atv when you change gears, I know a banshee is a two stroke , can I get advice pls.Is a yamaha Banshee the same as a other Atv?
If you are asking about shifting only, the Banshee is like many motorcycles and most ATV's that have a hand clutch. It should be a 6 spd transmission. First gear is down from neutral, and the rest are up.

Lots of ATV's have automatic clutches (no hand clutch). And some are fully automatic. But most sport ATV's will be like the Banshee. Is a yamaha Banshee the same as a other Atv?
The banshee shifts the same as other ATV's. The thing I don't like about them is there is 2 of everything. 2 carbs, 2 pistons, 2 pipes etc, so if you rebuild it, it costs twice as much, and doesn't last twice as long.Is a yamaha Banshee the same as a other Atv?
    Covenant Banshees are pretty nice.
The only differance from other sports atvs is that the banshee is two stroke. But the banshee is a badas* dune atv. I don't recommend it to a noob that's not on sand.

How do I find out the make and model on a used ATV with no VIN number?

I bought a used Yamaha ATV. There is no VIN number. How do I find out what year and model it is?

I only found numbers on the engine. ThanksHow do I find out the make and model on a used ATV with no VIN number?
There are at least two numbers on motorcycles and ATV's. One on the engine and one on the frame. I have several Yamaha ATV'S and the number on the frame is on one of the tubes that is towards the bottom where the engine is. Unless the frame has been power coated or modified, it should be there.

It should also be on your title or paperwork if you have them.

Is this even true? and if it is what do they ask?. also can you give me some basic mainence tips and other overal tips for keeping this beast in the best condition. TnxWhat are he basic things i have to do after buying a brand new yamaha atv.?
There is a misunderstanding somewhere. You paid for the unit so it is now yours. Only way to lose it is if you financed it and failed to make payments. Might get a visit from the repo person. If it was to get stolen and you have no insurance. If you have lots of money and no job, and become a person of suspicion (like a drug dealer) it could be seized as part of a money laundering charge. I'm sure there are some other possibilities I missed. The simple fact that people would think twice before buying a Yamaha if this happened to even one customer, and Yamaha is in the business of selling.

The only thing that comes to mind is Yamaha might void your warranty. That is highly unlikely, and I have never heard of this happening for answering a maintenance question wrong.

What looks like should happen is your dealer receive low marks on their CSI score. Customer Satisfaction Index, which measures how each dealer satisfies their customers needs. You will get and email or letter in the mail, welcoming you to the Yamaha family, thanking you for your purchase. Then a multiple choice questionaire asking how you were treated, was the dealership clean, were the employees friendly, etc. When you get to the question "Did your salesperson go over your paperwork, owners manual, operation of vehicle"? you give them a "0". Unless you were so happy about getting your new ATV you ignored them or paid no attention. At some point they also should have taken you to the service department and introduced you to the service writers. This is where a good writer will try and schedule your first service.

Did you buy a Pre Paid Maintenance package (PPM)? Look on your paperwork if you do not know. If you did buy PPM, you only need to know the period (mileage, hours, months) when you should bring it in and have the factory service done by the selling dealer.

If you didn't buy PPM, then open up your owners manual and look in index for maintenance schedule. You will see when Yamaha recommends you need to clean your air filter, check or change oil %26amp; filter, inspect brakes, etc. The following pages expalin how to do all that is necessay with some nice pictures too. If your going to do this yourself or have a mechanic friend do it, I recommend you fill out in the back of the manual the area for documenting the services. Save your reciepts and keep it all together in one spot. If for some reason you have a failure and you want it covered by warranty, there could be a chance of denial if you cant prove the maintenace was performed. Lets say your just outside your warranty period and something happens. Yamaha would be more likely to cover it under "Goodwill" if you showed them maintenance was done to their recommendations.

I currently work at a motorcycle dealership, and years ago when I first started, it was in the service department as a service writer.

So go out and enjoy your new ATV, and always wear the right protective gear. Please.

wtf, that dealership is bunch of bull , what a bunch of idiots. they cannot do that. If they ever did it would be illegal. it's not trueWhat are he basic things i have to do after buying a brand new yamaha atv.?
You have no concerns, The Dealer Has no rite to take the machine back this is a bunch of BULL, however Maintenance is very Important, I would invest in a Repair Manual, It will be full or very Important Info, including any and All maintenance Schedules and recommended Fluid levels,

Grats on your Purchase and Be Safe, Got Helmet?
they dont care as long as they are making money on it.What are he basic things i have to do after buying a brand new yamaha atv.?
They can't take it away if you paid for it. If they do call all that they will ask is how you like the bike and how you were treated at your dealership. But, nonetheless, maintenance is still very important. Change the oil, look over everything before you go riding and make sure that everything looks good. Also, wear a helmet. I'm sure that you already have one, but I just like to remind people.

Can I remove a junk engine from my moped and put a yamaha atv engine instead?

So I have a SunL chinese moped that is pure junk and is always breaking down. It has a CVT transmission. I'm thinking of removing the junk engine and putting a Yamaha Blaster ATV engine in the frame of it to hopefully make it more reliable. Do you think this will work? I dont know since it's gonna be a new manual transmission with a chain. Instead of CVT. I will be working with someone is quite knowledgeable with engines. I have all the welding tools and other tools necessary to do this? What do you think? Can I remove a junk engine from my moped and put a yamaha atv engine instead?
I think it will work. The blaster is a 200 and not very heavy. The fact that it is air cooled makes it an easier project. I believe your engine (stock) hangs off the frame like an old Honda trail 90. If that is the case, you should be able to install the 200 no problem. Make it a chain drive and you will have a 5 speed moped. Sounds like fun to me.

I don't know why people have to be so negative about creating a fun project!

    Good Luck
Respectfully, you will encounter problems galore it you tackle this project. Even if you shoe horn the engine into the frame, all the other components of the moped will not handle the extra weight and power.

While you are one of the few people that state they have access to fabrication tools, don't know if you have the necessary skills.

If you look at this as a learning exercise, then by all means, make it happen. If successful, you will have gained valuable experience and skills. Then you can move onto a new project.

Good LuckCan I remove a junk engine from my moped and put a yamaha atv engine instead?
Interesting project idea- legal issues possible-- 'Moped's usually under 50cc, a larger engine means 'motorcycle' license plate. Save your 'moped' registration and upgrade to 'motorcycle' at DMV when done, registration by frame number might mean no inspection for 'simple' (to DMV) engine replacement. As long as you have welder, cutting torch, drill and money you can do a lot of otherwise strange projects. Think of the guy who first put a Vincent engine in a Norton frame and what people may have said.
How is it going to fit in the cavity of the original engine? Can I remove a junk engine from my moped and put a yamaha atv engine instead?
    sounds like an awesome transplant
you bought junk and no it wont work

I need help finding info on a 1980's Yamaha ATV quad with reverse any help?

So I am trying to get my wifes old Yamaha Quad running and having a lot of trouble the big problem is I don't know exactly what type of quad it is to look up parts. she bought it around 90 to 91 and said it was used when she got it. On one of the fenders it says something about now having auto reverse or something like that the fender is now under a mountain of snow so can't find out exactly what is says and no the name is not on it I checked before pulling the ATV in the garage. I pulled a serial number of the engine and it reads 52 H - 027259 like I said it's got to be mid to late 80's it has an electric start which doesn't currently work and a pull start if that helps it acts like it wants to run it has spark and gas is getting to it when I pull the crank it it seems to be firing just not starting and I think knowing exactly what type of quad it is will help thanks in advance if you can helpI need help finding info on a 1980's Yamaha ATV quad with reverse any help?

A lot of time they will mount a plate on the bike someplace like on the steering shaft that will have the serial number and model number. Check the bike over closely and you should be able to find it. There is nothing on it to lead you to any brand at all? Markings decals or anything like that?

    Polaris or Yamaha ATV?

I am looking to buy a new ATV soon and I am torn on which model to get. I am stuck between the Yamaha Grizzly 450 or the Polaris Sportsman 400. The Polaris is $5699 new and the Yamaha is $6899 new so the Polaris has the edge on price. However I have heard mixed reviews on the suspension on the Polaris (mcpherson strut). I heard it can be like riding a pogo stick. The yamaha has independent A arms in front and back which is what I'm used to. Is it that noticeable or am I over thinking it? Any help would be great.Polaris or Yamaha ATV?
I say Polaris. Every Polaris ATV I he had lasted forever without having to get parts.Polaris or Yamaha ATV?
Polaris is better than Yamaha ATV. So i think you should buy Polaris.

Yamaha ATV Mod and Tire Question?

I have a 2003 yamaha Bear Tracker 250 and i was wondering if there were any small performance mods (nothing huge or my dad will freak) for it to give it a little more "umpf" (i like to go fast) and also its in need of some new tires (front and rear) and i've looked every where and can't find some for less then around $65 a tire can any one help me out thanks.Yamaha ATV Mod and Tire Question?
I would start with a performance air filter, a UNI would be great. Then go on with a carburetor jet kit and an exhaust if you don't mind it being a little louder. These mods would wake it up quite a bit, I would go with a UNI air filter, Dynojet jet kit, and something like a Pro Circuit exhaust. For tires, keep your eyes open on eBay and ATV sites such as BikeBandit, Cheap Cycle Parts, and such.

  • Yamaha ATV Question on a 2001 Yamaha Wolverine 4x4?

I own a 2001 Yamaha Wolverine 4x4. I never had an issue with the 4x4 system and never really needed it or paid attention to it. The other night, I got stuck and needed it. I noticed that when trying to get unstuck, the back wheels and one front wheel (the right hand side) where spinning. The left hand side tire barely moved.

Is this normal? Is a 3 wheel drive? or is it supposed to be a true 4 wheel drive and I have a problem?

Hoe does the all time 4x4 system on this atv work? I am used to polaris and their AWD system. The tires take turns, etc.

ThanksYamaha ATV Question on a 2001 Yamaha Wolverine 4x4?
Yes it's normal. The rear axil is a fixed axil so both rear wheels turn together.the front axil has a set of spider gears in it making it a true differential.Without this your bike would not be able to turn without hopping all over the place.

    Yamaha atv engine help?

Yamaha Badger YMF80-4 stroke, with auto clutch 4 speed. so since the battery went bad, it has no kick start so we would have it in neutral and push it, then shift into 1st and it would start. so the last time we did tryd that the atv stoped and the tires dont spin but if you put in in 4th grear you can roll the atv super slow, so what happend to the engine? i would like to take it apart and try to fix it, but it would help to know where the problem is before i start taking the engine apart.|||Can't begin to imagine how you can push-start something with an automatic clutch unless there's something wrong with the clutch i.e. it's not disengaging properly, so I would say start by pulling the clutch apart and servicing/repairing it. It is always harder to push a vehicle in gear in first than in top, so the symptoms you describe lead me to that conclusion.|||could be timing chain... broken or jumped a tooth???

There's a Spacer Tube on the Axle,,Between the Bearings,,,Inside the Case.

It has become Rusted to the Axle.

The axle is supposed to be a Slide Fit thru the bearings.

Axles and Bearings virtually NEVER freeze together.

But it also must Slide thru the Bearing Spacer,,,,which grows roots to the axle.

    ......................................鈥?br>

    To get it OUT,,,,

obviously the Axle will not slide thru as intended.

You are going to have to either BEAT It out,,or PRESS it out.

There's very little chance you'll be able to break the bond between Axle %26amp; Spacer.

So Expect the Spacer to push the Bearing out of the case.

It comes OUT by hitting or Pressing on Sprocket Side of Axle,,,and out thru the R/H Brake Side.

The seal's press fit is Tight-ish.

Pry the R/H Brake Side Seal and Dust cover Out of the axle carrier case.

That reduces the Force required because Bearing must Come out ,,,while STUCK to the Axle,,,and it wont have to drive seal along with it.

Re-Install the Wheel Hub on the L/H end of the Axle,,Sprkt Side.

    Only That hub,,nothing else.

Get a short piece of pipe that fits OVER the end of axle,,,

but Buttts- against the Nut/Washer Seat of the Hub.

Beat on that Pipe with a Big Hammer,,Sledge Hammer.

You can get a pipe at any hardware store for cheap.

1" or 1.5" Diameter a Foot long should do.

Also get a CAP for the pipe,,to have something to Hit on besides a Hole in the pipe.

Might wanna get a big Washer to between the Hub and Pipe for a "seat" so ya dont mess up the spline intersection @ Hub /Axle.

You shouldn't beat the hell outa it.

If it's REALLY tough,,,,get a LONG pipe to fit over the Other side of Axle and up against Bearing.

    Buttt that against something SOLID,,,like a Tree,,,,or a bord on the ground,,,etc.

That "AxleCoverPipe" will take all the force,,,and not your axle carrier case,,rear susp.arms, mounting hardware, etc.

OR,,,take it to a autoparts store that presses on axle bearings,,,or a bike shop,,,,and have them Press the axle out.

You can rig up a press all sorts of ways,,,using a puller body,or a bottle jack----but I'll skip that.

"If I gotta Tell ya how,,,Ya got no bidness doing it"-----good way to get hurt BAD or damage something while Learing the Hard Way.

    ......................................鈥?br>

    It MIGHT come out Easy,,

Or turn into a Prize Fight %26amp; be a full 15 round slugfest.

If it's gonna be Too Tuff,,,,take the Stripped Down axle assembly to a shop ,,to be Pressed out.

    ......................................鈥?br>

OLD,,,"re-claimed" spacers are better than NEW ones.

Because after getting them cleaned-up inside,,,,they are far less likely to seize-up again.

New ones are Cheap %26amp; Easier.

Coat the Axle and the Inside of the spacer with a Bunch of heavy grease is all ya need to do to keep it from happening again

    ......................................

    Here's a Picture

    http://images.powersportsnetwork.com/fic鈥?/a>

#19 Spacer is stuck to #11 Axle,,,

while Inside the #18 Case ,,,trapped Between the 2- #20 Bearings.

Beating/Pressing on Left End of axle makes Axle slide thru Left Side Brng like normal,,,

While the Stuck #19 Spacer drives the R/H #20 Bearing OUT of the Case,,

allowing axle to come Thru %26amp; OUT.

Soak the spacer in penetrating oil.

And Beat it all up%26amp;down it's length to break up the rust.

If you want to SOAK the spacer,,,

    Get a long plastic bag,,

Push the axle THRU the Bottom,,,and slide bag over spacer.

Twist the bag Tight around axle and ducttape it,or wire-tie it tightly to seal upon axle.

Twist Bag around axle to reduce "Ballooning " so Less Oil is required to Fill the bag.

Fill the Bag ,,,stand axle on end%26gt;%26gt;check back later after soaking a while.

Real penetraing oil is Pricey @ enough quantity to fill the bag.

ATF mixed with Charcoal lighter fluid works Great.

    Plain Diesel does also.

"Lamp Oil" ,,kerosine,,all that sorta stuff does work OK,,and is Cheap

    Good Luck

    ......................................鈥?br>

    I Forgot to mention,,,

    Yamaha is the TYPO KING.

Looking at the Parts Drawing,,,which IS genuine Yamaha from a different source,,,

The Locknuts on the axle which tighten against the Sprocket Carrier are MISSING in the photo,,,LOL.

Any publication from Yamaha,,,,ALWAYS be Skeptical of the accuracy of both TEXT and Illustrations.

They screw-up more than probaly everybody else put together

    Here's an '87 Parts Diagram.

Note the 2- #25 SprocketCarrier Retainer Nuts.

    http://images.powersportsnetwork.com/fic鈥?/a>

Originally ,,Yamaha use Spanner-Drive RING NUTS.

They had back-off probs with 'em.

So they Superceded the part and now use Regular HEX NUTS.

When they made the Change,,,they DELETED the Old Ring Nuts from the Engineering Drawing,,

but failed to pencil-in their Replacement,,the new HEX nuts.

So instead of displaying the WRONG Nuts,,,,it doesn't show ANY nuts at all in that position.

In some situations,,that could be Not as comical as it sounds for anyone trying to fit their bike %26amp; not knowing what all goes where.

DO INDEED put the Nuts there,,,Yours should already have the New Hex ones.

    And once more,,just for sake of repeating%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;

Axle MUST go OUT in Correct Direction,,,ONLY goes thru ONE Way.

The RIGHT Direction is OUT the RIGHT Side.

Right direction to go back IN is Thru the RIGHT Side.

So- some states let the various vehicles on streets and country roads at various times, my sister can run her Yamaha ATV with it's weed sprayer, cargo basket and power take off equipped , lighted 4 wheeler and it is classed the same as small tractor. JD Gators get allowed on roads same way in Wisconsin sometimes. What are the valve settings for a 2000 Yamaha Warrior ATV?

Remove the rocker covers as said, but u'll need to remove the timing chain cover and crank cover also. Turn the crank nut till the timing mark on the cam sptocket lines up with the mark on the case. Use feeler guages.

How do I get my '99 yamaha blaster 200cc atv to idle?

The Blaster has an electronic device controlling the idle. Look at the carb, you will see a strange looking box on top of the normal carb, it is a solenoid which controls idle speed. In the throttle housing on the handle bar, is a switch, which activates the box. I am not sure how the bike determines when the idle speed is to be adjusted, but that control box can give trouble, causing the bike to shut down when the throttle is closed, and the switch in the throttle housing transfers. Also, the control box can cause the carb to idle very fast. I had a customer last October with this problem, I solved it for him. If you think this may be your

trouble, you may E-mail me for instructions as to how to repair it. I do not want to take up space/time on ANSWERS if this is not your problem.

Tomcotexas@yahoo.com|||If you think it has a clog take a hammer (I'm serious I did this to my Warrior) and tap the carb with it. Not to hard but not to soft either. Then adjust the screw once the engine is warmed up. Make sure you put some fresh gas in there.|||You need to clean the Carb. Specifically, the pilot jet.

If you dont know how to clean it you can get a Clymer or Haynes manual and read about how to do it. If it is not CLEAR to you what to do after that, have a local shop take care of it for you. It is very easy to miss the pilot jets when cleaning a carb.|||First thing i would suggest is check ur jetting. If that looks good clean the carb.|||before u take apart the carb adjust the idle screw and the air screw. they are very fussy, one cant be wrong or the machine wont run properly. then if that didnt work clean the carb and adjust the scews after. the reeds also may be causing the problem.

    Yamaha ATV Question?

I was wondering what the best Yamaha ATV out there is. I would rather have a consumers opinion. Please give details for your choice.|||Polaris Baby!!!!

Forget Yamahahahahaha|||Don't listen to the fella above, I have friends with Polaris ATV's, and while they perform good their reliability sucks.

Yamahas are very reliable ATV's from my experience. I've owned 3 and never had a problem with any of them (86' YFM 200 Moto 4, 96' Big bear, 04' Wolverine) and I ABUSED them all! If you want a no frills bulletproof ATV at a good price then i'd go with the Big Bear 400, the only drawback to most is they are not automatics (they're 5 speed foot shift semi auto's). They are indestructible. If auto is a must get a Grizzly 660 or 700 EFI, the Kodiak's (400 and 450) just don't have enough grunt for me, plus the Grizz comes with a locking front differential as standard equipment and ample ground clearance. If you want performance go with the Raptor 700R or the YFZ 450. The 700R isn't a quick as the YFZ but it has reverse and the YFZ does not. If you want something that's a true workhorse look at a Rhino 660 side x side, they're amazing and as fun to drive as an ATV, yet they seat two people and have a bed in the back!

Is there an extended swing arm kit for '04 yamaha 660r raptor atv?

I hate the way that my 660r wants to willie so easily, especially while going up hills. the torque is hard to control with the throttle and i would like to dampen the bikes tendency to want to willie, with its crappy high center of gravity. is there an extended swing arm kit that i can use? thanks.|||http://www.newircusers.com/store/rk2007_鈥?/a>

The site keeps changing the pictures of different items they sell.

I did see a Raptor extended swingarm - contact them.

This site will build to your specifications -

If you don't mind spending money and like stability, consider an extended rear axle.

The wider stance will help prevent your quad from tipping over.

I don't know if it will hinder trail riding, being so wide.

Can u adjust a yamaha bruin 250 atv to run straight pipe/performance exhaust?

I also need to know were i could get a exhaust for it....

It needs to make it loud, cuz im tired of riding with people with freakin 700cc atvs and think their so bad *** just because they heard a mile away.....

PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!|||A 250 atv will still be a 250 atv regardless of what exhaust is fitted, if you fit a straight pipe with no muffler it will actually loose performance. Fact is you are the 'underdog' in the pack so either accept it or waste a heap of money like your mates and go get a 700cc model. After all, it's all for fun isn't it and it sounds like your not having much with your present friends.

What is the difference between the yamaha raptor 350 and yamaha warrior (ATV).?

It's essentially the same bike - has been for over two decades. Same bore and stroke, same compression ratio, both six speeds, the Raptor is a bit lighter and the Raptor has a bit more travel - yet a tiny bit less clearance. Same size tires and fuel capcity.

They made some minor changes when they renamed it the Raptor, but they share the same basic motor/drivetrain.

They Raptor has a different look due to the redesigned plastics.

If you are considering either, take a look at the new Raptor 250 - very quick and nimble.|||they read simular, however the warrior has a tremendious resale value, it seems more of the mud ape beast, where the raptor seems to be a little more speedy, doesnt have all reversing like the warrior but has a snorkel set up higher.

http://www.yamaha-motor.com/sport/produc鈥?/a>|||everything is the same except for the frame, plastics, and drive sprockets. they both share the same engine but the raptor is geared for more speed.|||I find some articles for you here:

How do I change the oil in my Yamaha Kodiak ATV?

where are all the filters/fittings? What oil should be used?

Also, it starts kind of hard - not as easy as most 4 stroke ATV's. What could be the problem?

It's a 2004|||Go under the four wheeler and on the bottom of the engine towards the rear of it is a lonely bolt. I can't remember the size its either a 17,19, or 21 mm socket. When you pull this oil will go everywhere so be sure that you have an oil pan underneath to catch it. After all of that drains you need to screw off the filter which should be on the left side of the engine. You need to get your filter from your Yamaha dealer. Once your done you need to take your new filter and put some oil on the o-ring to be sure to seal it and then screw it onto the engine. Then you need to screw your drain bolt back on and tighten it. After this you need to put some oil in. Near your dip stick should be a number like 2300 cm3 this probably isn't the number on the engine, I just came up with a number because I can't remember the number. Anyways 2300 = 2.3 liters of oil to put back in your motor. Since you put a new filter on you want to put .2 liters extra in there so... If the engine says 2300 put 2.5 liters of oil. After you put oil in you need to start your atv for a few minutes and then shut it off. Wait about 5 minutes and then check your oil and add any if needed. I'm sorry about not knowing the exact numbers. As for the oils that you need to use you need to stick to a motorcycle/atv specific oil, which you can get from your Yamaha dealer. If you use car oil then then something in the oil will cause the clutches to slip. If you don't have a particular brand that you want to use then just stick with Yamaha's Yamalube 20w-40.

As for the starting problem I don't have a clue, my dad's starts up just fine and it's a 2003.|||omg y dont u like ask the people tht u got it from at the ***** store lol

I have a yamaha banshee ATV from the year 2000 and i lost the key to the beast.....any tips to hotwire it?

yamaha banshee, ATV, year 2000, lost key, how do i hotwire it?|||There should be a number on the ignition itself that is not the VIN that you can take to a shop that cuts bike keys (not all hardware stores do) and they can cut a key based on that number. It will be a little more expensive than copying a key but much cheaper than replacing the ignition.|||With all the new devices they have for security I doubt it. But you should be able to give them the VIN # and get a key made...Unless of course it's hot...then you might have a problem. Even if you get a new ignition...they will probably ask or the Serial Number...(or VIN# same thing) Hope it aint hot. lol|||dude just go buy a new ignition for it.|||theswitch should have a 5 digit code on bottom. You'll need to go to a Yamaha dealer with that number and find a dealer that has a "codecutter" for making duplicate keys. It usually costs ten bucks or if you don't need headlights just unplug the switch. On YFZ350M the keyswitch only shorts out the cdignition to ground when switch is in off position. Now the whole friggen yahoo world can snag yer bike|||Just go back to the dealer that it was purchased at and they should have a # for it and can make you a new key for about $5.00|||Sounds like you stole it, if you have any common sense, go to a dealer and by a new ignition switch.|||no. but you can get a molded for the place it may cost you some $$$$|||Listen to sovereign he knows what hes talking about, take the lock off get the number then go to your dealer and get a duplicate most good agents can do the same for most jap bikes and British too but like he says you need to get security or good insurance on your bike cause these, like a lot of machines are very easy to steal

What is the best engine oil for a 350 Yamaha ATV other than what is available from the dealer.?

The most important factor in oils is the weight. This is actually a measurement of the oils viscosity at different temps. Once you know the required weight you simply need to buy a name brand oil.

All oils are basically the same and despite any advertising you see or hear the difference between one brand over the other is negligible since the only difference between brands is the detergents used by the various manufacturers.

Hope this helps and safe riding.|||any "brand name" 10w30. if you would use in your car, you can use it in the atv.

I have a yamaha bruin 250 atv that starts fine and idles good but when i give it gas it bogs down?

and backfires out of the carb. i ran some berryman b12 through the carb and it has no effect.|||Backfiring out of the carb is a sign of a leaking intake valve.

When the spark plug fires, the compression of the engine blows the burnt fuel out of the intake valve and through the carburetor.

Tight valve clearances will hold the valves open a fraction.

Adjust the valves|||Spraying Berrymans [good product by the way] or anything else into the carb is pretty much a toxic waste of time. You may have an intake leak, in which case spraying that cleaner around the outside of the intake will identify it. Could be time to remove and disassemble the carb for cleaning. Do some on line searching for a rebuild kit if you can do this yourself.|||try cleaning them.

What is a 1998 yamaha 80cc badger atv worth, with a rebuilt motor and new tires?

can i replace my 2000 warrior 350 atv rear swing arm and axel sprocket ext with one from a 1990? are they the same parts|||no u cannot and the reason for that is if manufactures made parts that would interchange they would lose money selling replacement parts. that's 1 reason Davidson almost went bankrupt was to many parts were interchangeable

you may want to check your corroded wires before replacin the relay though. a funky ground will cause the same thing:)
